Tailings Dam Breech @ Mt. Polley Mine Newest Single Release from Krispin Studer "It's Gone"

Would like to see what people think about my newest single "It's Gone" that I added to my album "Devils Eyes".   I wrote this song the day that the tailings dam at Mt. Polley Mine breeched which was August 4th 2014.  I worked at the mine for several years and was actually suppose to return to work on my scheduled shift two days later when I received the news not to come in to work.  This incident really inspired me to write a song about it literally of how the dam is "It's Gone".   Maybe give it a listen @  www.krispinstuder.com/devilseyes/    Thanks for listening!    If you enjoy the song you can get yourself a couple of free downloads @ www.krispinstuder.com

Video of Krispin Studer playing one of his songs in four feet of snow

Would like to share my video with anyone who wants to watch.  I edited all myself in Williams Lake B.C. It was mid winter where we can get over 4 feet of snow.  Sometimes can get to be very tough to handle.  Thought it would make a cool video for people to experience my life and music, so enjoy and let me know what you think.         Cheers Krispin

Language Barrier? Not With Music!

When I first moved to Williams Lake B.C. Canada in 1993 from St. Gallen Switzerland  I knew things were going to change.  I got thrown into a class of grade ones without knowing a word of English.  I was 7yrs of age so technically suppose to be in grade 2 but held back due to the language barrier.   So many people tried communicating with my siblings and I but there was no way for us to understand besides the odd pointing of the finger and hand gestures.  Very frustrating!  We all went home to ask our father what to say to everyone. He replied "just say I don't understand you" .   So the next few days all we did was go around saying "I don't understand you" to everyone and anyone.   So many people go through this kind of conflict but in the end it's a huge experience not only for us but everyone around us.  We try so hard to communicate with each other and I have found over the years that one of the best ways really is music.   Music usually speaks a truth. We can all relate to music one way or another,  weather it's just to make you feel good or even compare to a life experience.  I want to share some of my music with you and see if it can relate to your life.   If you have a moment give it a listen @  www.krispinstuder.com   for a couple of free downloads.   Enjoy!

What Really Matters to a Musician!

I don't remember what day it was.....I do remember that I was all alone late one evening at home with my digital recording studio and headphones resting on my shoulders,  starring at my guitar to the side not knowing what it wants or what I want.   The thing is that I never really knew what I had wanted in life with so many things going down the wrong path and feeling so out of place.   I knew that night after having... well lets say more than a couple of drinks,  that things had to change.   With the frost making the outside walls talk and the snow falling like a million balls of cotton creating a white blanket on the ground,  I started recording music that not only felt right to me but also had meaning in a sense that could relate to a lot of individuals.   Like any young musician I had big dreams,  the kind that you try to envision and hope one day will come true.   But let's face it with those dreams always come doubts and  sometimes even regrets .   The reality is that this dream of mine seemed impossible.
It was 2003,  I graduated from Anne Stevenson Secondary when an opportunity arose for me to go back to my home country Switzerland and play a few gigs with my fathers old band.   At the time my brother, father and I had been playing the odd oldies at home from bands like Deep Purple, Creedance Clearwater  Revival,  Status Quo and such.   When I arrived in Switzerland,  for one it was awesome to be back home after 10 years but to be there for gigs was just sureal.   Of course I enjoy playing songs for people who appreciate it,   but it's a million other crazy things that make us who we are and what it means to be a musician.   It's not the after parties, or the number of albums sold, but rather it's knowing who appreciates you for who you are and what you have composed for them to relate to.   When I realized this it really gave me drive to compose more songs than I could possibly record.   So perhaps most important of all is YOU, the listener, that makes it all matter.  I look forward to composing many more sometimes hard, sometimes frustrating, catchy groovy songs along the way and hope that you are part of that journey.  If you'd like to hear some of these songs that were part of this story then just click here to listen to my album "Devil's Eyes"  Get a couple of FREE DOWNLOADS here: www.krispinstuder.com
Thank you for being a listener and for making it all matter.

Rough Times in the Boonies

It must have been about three years after I came back from Switzerland that I started a band with a bunch of high school friends.   I lived about 80 km north of Williams Lake B.C. with no phone and no power besides a generator down this gravel logging road 13 km off the main Likely Highway.   I had all the equipment and space to make this band work.  Of course being way out in the "boonies" we were able to crank up the sound as much as we pleased which was nice.   It really was all a band needed aside from a large group to enjoy the tunes.
During this time we faced many challenges that most bands don't have to deal with.   More than once we were in a recording session and either the generator would burn through too much oil and shut down because it was a piece of SH#T,  or of course run out of gas.   We had many difficulties with the amount of snow we got out there.  We would get over a foot of snow over night when the band members were suppose to come out and well... not all of them had a 4x4 vehicle.   Once they made it out all was fine and dandy to jam, have some drinks and argue a little about a new song or why someone can't make it to the next practice.   A major problem was right before my place there is about a 1km hill that was good when coming in but bad when heading out.    Multiple times the drummer would have to get pulled up the hill and other times he just had to stay a while until the snow got plowed.    One time I received an email form a lady in Victoria B.C. that was a radio host.   She really enjoyed the songs I sent her and picked "Rescue Me" to play on the station.   She told me the time it would get played because like any band getting your song played on a radio station is a big thing and I wanted to know.   To hear the song I had to stream it on the internet,  of course being on generator power the internet is always off and on due to power surges.   I listened to the introduction for the song and sure enough it starts to freeze and not play anymore.   To sum it all up it was a very dissapointing and frustrating couple of minutes.
